First single by 1980s Brisbane Australia band Solid Citizens Recorded at the UK Manor Studios in 1984 by Mike Shipley The Cars Def Leppard ACDC Nickleback Shania Twain Joni Mitchell Green Day etc and Mark Goldenberg Pointer Sisters Chicago and released on RoxyRCA Records Solid Citizens were Mick Walker and Glen Muirhead Singing in the Shower was written by Walker Muirhead John Barnes and published by GilbeyMCA Danielle Spencer daughter of actor Don Spencer and wife of Russell Crowe featured in the video produced by the K Team of Sue Davis and John Witteron who also did Who Can It Be Now for Aussie band Men at Work Interestingly the shower scene was shot at the South Sydney Rugby League team39s Rabbitohs change rooms now coowned by Russell Crowe The song was a minor hit in Australia although in Bathurst it entered the charts at 0351 knocking off Michael Jackson39s current national one hit The band was going to call the album Big in Bathurst but RCA dropped all their Australian bands for financial reasons and the album was never finished Glen went on to play in many Australian bands and Mick went to the UK as a songwriter The song was in the popular ABC TV series Sweet and Sour and included on various compilation albums The recording sessions were interesting for other reasons as studio and Virgin Records owner Richard Branson was also residing at the studios and spent days being exposed to Aussie culture humour and gocart driving expertise by the band members A good time was had by all

BON SCOTT Best remembered as the original frontman of the legendary hard rock band ACDC singer Bon Scott was born Ronald Belford Scott in Kirriemuir Scotland on July 9 1946 As a child he began performing in his fathers pipe band and following the familys relocation to Australia in 1952 he quit school at age 15 later playing in a local rock outfit called The Spektors By 1967 Scott had joined the Melbournebased group The Valentines making his recorded debut with the single Everyday I Have To Cry the band soon emerged as one of the most popular on the Aussie circuit in mid1969 issuing an EP My Old Mans A Groovy Old Man A drug bust destroyed The Valentines public image however and after cracking the national Top 30 with their 1970 single Juliette the band dissolved Scott soon joined the Sydney bluesrock unit Fraternity issuing the LP Livestock in 1971 Flaming Galah followed a year later in 1973 however Scott was involved in a motorcycle accident which left him comatose for several months during which time Fraternity disbanded After recovering he worked a series of odd jobs before recording a demo as a member of the shortlived Mount Lofty Rangers finally in 1974 Scott joined ACDC recording the groups debut LP High Voltage a year later ACDCs ascent to international stardom culminated in 1979 when their LP Highway To Hell reached the US Top 20 however on February 19 1980 Scott died in the wake of an allnight drinking binge with the surviving members of the band tapping new vocalist Brian Johnson to record the classic Back In Black just a few months later The 1997 ACDC box set Bonfire celebrated Scotts contributions to their legacy

John Paul Young born June 21 1950 in Glasgow Scotland is an Australian singer best known for his 1978 worldwide hit single Love is in the Air
Early Career
Young and his family emigrated to Australia in his youth and by the early 1970s he had become the lead singer with Sydney rock band Elm Tree In early 1972 he was selected for the role of Ananias in the original Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar and he remained with the production until it closed in 1974
Visiting producermanager Simon NapierBell heard him singing with his group in a pub in Newcastle and persuaded him to sign as a solo artist to Albert Productions the company that had produced Australias top Sixties group The Easybeats NapierBell then produced Youngs first hit single Pasadena at Armstrong Studios in Melbourne The song was cowritten by George Young and Harry Vanda of the Easybeats together with British actor David Hemmings who was a partner in NapierBells label SNB Records Vanda Young also produced ACDC
Love is in the Air is a 1977 disco song sung by John Paul Young It became his only worldwide hit during 1978 peaking at 2 on the Australian charts and 5 in the UK singles chart In the United States the song peaked at 7 on the pop chart and spent two weeks at 1 on the adult contemporary chart
In 1997 the song was covered by Krush featuring Simon Green
Cher also made a cover of the song and it was originally planned for her album Believe It was however removed for the final version
The song has been adopted by supporters of Dundee United and can usually be heard being sung at most of their matches
