The digital radio trial in Sydney broadcasting on VHF Band III spectrum and broadcasting on the Eureka 147 spectrum
The first digital test transmissions on VHF Band III went to air on 17 December 2003
The trial broadcasts covered an estimated 65 per cent of Sydneys population The best reception is within a 20 kilometre radius of the digital transmission tower at Willoughby except for some areas in the northern beaches and surrounds which are affected by geographic conditions
To improve coverage and in building penetration the test transmission power was increased in midFebruary 2005
